Brazil requests WTO consultations over U.S. tariffs
Brazil has initiated a dispute settlement process against the United States at the World Trade Organization (WTO) over tariffs imposed by the U.S. on Brazilian goods. Brazil alleges these tariffs, including a 25% tariff on some goods and up to 12.5% on others linked to forced labor allegations, are inconsistent with U.S. obligations under the WTO's General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 (GATT 1994) and the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes (DSU).
