Report abnormal population growth in border areas: Shah to SPs

Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the need to report abnormal demographic changes in border areas caused by illegal migration, stating the government's commitment to curb such 'unnatural demographic growth' with a 'ruthless approach' and a 'demography mission'. He highlighted the creation of a 'quadrangular security grid' and a shift towards an 'integrated security grid' for impenetrable border security. The Minister also mentioned augmenting border infrastructure, implementing the Vibrant Villages Programme to prevent migration and ensure welfare in border areas, and the decision to fence the 1,610-km India-Myanmar border. The overarching objectives include preventing proxy war, illegal infiltration, radicalisation, narcotics trafficking, smuggling, drone threats, cybercrime, organised crime, and making border areas more livable.
