Israel destroys Hezbollah underground infrastructure in southern Lebanon
The Israeli military destroyed underground infrastructure used by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, targeting a 200-meter tunnel containing weapons. This action occurred despite a recently agreed U.S.-brokered security agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which provides for a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon and deployment of the Lebanese army. Hezbollah's leader, Naim Qassem, rejected the agreement, calling it a surrender and vowing continued armed resistance. Israel stated it would remain in an expanded security zone to destroy terrorist infrastructure and safeguard its citizens.
