Background
Overview
UPSC examines the socio-economic impacts of urbanization, challenges to the agricultural sector, land use planning, and sustainable development, all of which are directly addressed by this concept.
Rapid urbanization, characterized by the expansion of cities and conversion of agricultural land for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes, poses significant challenges to food security, biodiversity, and the livelihoods of farming communities. This process often leads to a reduction in cultivable land, increased pressure on natural resources, and the loss of traditional farming practices.
