Misinformation poses significant threats to democratic processes, social cohesion, public health, and national security. UPSC examines policy responses, regulatory frameworks, and the role of technology in addressing these challenges, relevant for GS2 (Governance, Internal Security) and GS3 (Cybersecurity).
Misinformation and disinformation, characterized by the spread of false or inaccurate information, have become pervasive challenges in the digital age, amplified by the rapid dissemination capabilities of social media and online platforms. This phenomenon undermines public trust, distorts public discourse, and poses significant societal risks.
