Overview
Internal security is a critical component of GS3. UPSC examines the nature of security threats, the effectiveness of state responses, the challenges in implementing counter-terrorism measures, and the balance between security imperatives and civil liberties.
Internal security encompasses the measures taken by a state to maintain peace, law, and order within its borders, protecting its citizens and institutions from threats such as terrorism, insurgency, and organized crime. Counter-terrorism strategies involve a comprehensive approach including intelligence gathering, law enforcement operations, legislative frameworks, and international cooperation to prevent and respond to terrorist activities.
